Will a heat pump suit your house?
It works best with underfloor heating, because then a lower water temperature is enough. Radiators are possible too, but in an older house it is sometimes worth replacing some of them with bigger ones.
You do not have to throw away the old boiler. A heat pump can be combined with the existing boiler, which switches on in the coldest weather.
